William R. Acorn, P.E.,

Founder and Principal Engineer

William Acorn is Founder and Principal Engineer of Acorn Consulting Services, LLC. For nearly 50 years, he has provided analysis, engineering consultation and project design and delivery services for building projects including commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, institutional laboratories, and clean manufacturing facilities for the semiconductor and other advanced technology industries.

Chris Eggers, BSIT

CAD Consultant

Mr. Eggers has more than 35 years of experience as a CAD designer and forensic illustrator, providing trial demonstratives, graphic presentations for engineering reports, construction documents and detailed drawings, with special emphasis on technical facilities including laboratories and semiconductor cleanrooms.

Roland Gassler, BSME

Semiconductor Production and Process Consultant

Mr. Gassler is an accomplished Engineering Manager with extensive experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry with a strong background in all aspects of equipment engineering, equipment installation, fab construction, P&ID’s, high purity piping and safety.

With experience in advanced technology manufacturing operations, Mr. Gassler also provides technical research and analysis of semiconductor wafer fabrication tools and manufacturing operations in support of multi-plaintiff litigation involving alleged exposure and adverse health effects related to process chemicals in wafer fabrication facilities.

Makarand (Mark) Hastak,
Ph.D., PE, CCP

Consultant

Dr. Hastak has been involved with the construction industry for the past 30 years where he has conducted research, taught, and assisted industry in the area of construction engineering and management including scheduling, estimating, cost control, infrastructure management, risk management decision-making, warranties, construction safety, construction equipment, process improvement, modular construction, disaster risk reduction, and strategic planning.

Dr. Hastak has authored over 200 publications that relate to warranties, process improvement, project controls, capital rehabilitation planning, strategic planning, and decision-making based on his work. He has co-authored a widely used book on Infrastructure Planning, Engineering, and Economics published by McGraw-Hill (2006 and 2015).

Dr. Hastak offers expert witness services to attorneys representing both plaintiff and defendant. His services include case reviews, written reports, depositions, arbitrations, and trial testimony as needed.

Jay Josef Hoenig

Project Executive

Mr. Hoenig has over 40 years of experience in providing consulting services to both industry and government on a global basis. He has been involved in the design, procurement, and construction of numerous, complex facilities to include DOE, NASA, and DOD launch facilities, Space Shuttle Assembly, chemical, automotive, mining, pulp and paper, food and beverage, breweries, electronics and semiconductors, and general manufacturing facilities.

Mr. Hoenig provides enterprise wide risk management consulting specializing in asset and financial security areas such as IPO and M&A due diligence, financial and social compliance, fraud deterrence and investigations, intellectual property protection, copyright, patent investigations.

Lawrence Ibsen

Construction Consultant

Mr. Ibsen has extensive experience in mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing system: construction, sales and project management for commercial, industrial, mission-critical, high-end residential and multi-family residential properties.

Mr. Ibsen has performed and been responsible for: general and mechanical estimating, change order estimating, contract negotiation, and project management. Larry has led teams and provided cost reduction through application of experience, effective planning, and value analysis.

Mr. Ibsen is highly skilled in project/operations management, fast-track scheduling and implementation, and construction quality assurance programs.

Martin J. Lenich,
P.E., ACI, MBA

Consultant

Mr. Lenich has a career in Residential, Commercial and Industrial Design, Construction and Inspection, spanning nearly 40 years. He is a registered Mechanical Engineer in multiple states and responsible for $100’s of millions in building value in the United States. Asia and Europe. Areas of expertise include building infrastructure including HVAC and Piping Systems. After managing the design and construction of complex buildings, Mr. Lenich currently focuses on property inspection for residential, commercial and industrial properties.

Peter I. Menconi,
P.E., LEED AP

Senior Engineering Consultant

Mr. Menconi has over 40 years’ experience in the engineering, construction and service of mechanical systems for buildings – HVAC, power piping, plumbing, controls, etc. His career as a professional engineer spans the gamut from Chief Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager for large mechanical subcontractors to designing and overseeing the design of mechanical systems while employed by consulting engineering firms. In all of these roles, Mr. Menconi and his employers have provided significant “prime” contract work, supervising and managing projects from design to estimating, to installation and field engineering (startup, test and balance) for a wide variety of large commercial and industrial projects.

In fulfilling his various roles, Mr. Menconi has been the responsible engineer-of-record for assignments ranging from value engineering, to design/build and turn-key projects.

Forensic engineering and analysis is a skill he has developed on the basis of extensive involvement in design and construction of mechanical systems and troubleshooting systemic and operational deficiencies. Mr. Menconi is instrumental in evaluating and determining cause and effect related to mechanical system deficiencies or failures as a forensic engineer or litigation consultant within the Acorn Consulting Services organization.

C. Michael Moffitt, Ph.D.

Consultant

Dr. Moffitt has approximately thirty years of experience working on diverse environmental and toxicology projects for clients in the construction, manufacturing, chemical processing, healthcare, and energy sectors. Included in his broad experience is twenty-five years working in the technical areas of environmental health in both field and laboratory settings.

Dr. Moffitt has expertise in the investigation of chemical, metals, and biological (microbial) contamination of air, water, and food and identifying the potential human health effects and risks. He also conducts training seminars on indoor air quality and mold issues for a variety of legal, healthcare facility, building contractor, and janitorial firm client personnel. In addition, Dr. Moffitt has considerable domestic and international experience interacting and negotiating with government agencies, and providing litigation support to legal clients.

Mr. LaRovere has over 35 years of experience in specialty contracting and general contracting providing services in executive oversight, construction management, consulting, owners representative, energy engineering and building commissioning. Mr. LaRovere is an expert in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy management and systems integration, having worked in Arizona, Texas, Hawaii, and Nevada on the following types of projects.
